Jeannette Davidson-Mayer | Emeritus Fellow 2016 | Jeannette represents and advocates for our American Heroes and fellow Hidden Heroes. Her nonprofit, Our Central Command Post, was established in 2018 when she authored a book (of the same name) about making a stick-built home flexible while living with “an ever-changing daily new normal” of caring for her veteran, who suffered multiple traumatic brain injuries while serving in Iraq in 2005. Jeannette’s mother is retired from the Air Force, which allowed her to grow up in many locations across the western United States. Now, she enjoys living on the Eastern side of the United States. She sees America as her hometown. Her passion for volunteering is evident in her extensive history of involvement with non-profit organizations, boards, and community leadership. Jeannette has received two distinguished President’s Volunteer Awards for her years of dedicated service with Team Rubicon USA. One of her passions is the Elizabeth Dole Foundation. Jeannette is actively engaged with several national and local committees & organizations as they diligently work to change the narrative surrounding intimate partner violence and domestic violence. “We’re not alone in this journey,” says Jeannette. During her free time, she enjoys visiting her daughters and playing with her grandsons, who love to share ice cream with her, as well as hiking and tending to her flower beds. All proven true recreational therapy, along with playing UNO or Skip-Bo. Game on...
